About Lakeview

Located on the forested shores of Bull Shoals Lake and next to the famous trout fishing of the White River, Lakeview plays host to many anglers, as well as the many loyal visitors who return each year with their families. Lakeview’s resort facilities and the availability of first-rate water sports are widely known, and drive the economy. Two large Arkansas State parks and a Corps of Engineers park next to the White River and Bull Shoals Lake, plus walking trails and campgrounds provide attractive areas for recreational activity for young and old.


Business services include many resorts in the area as well as dining, auto repair, real estate, banks, and medical services, bait and tackle shops, beauty salons, and an enlarged, improved marina with access to thousands of miles of pristine water. Retail shopping, more dining, local schools, and plenty of entertainment opportunities can be found just fifteen minutes down the road in the Mountain Home area, a regional hub for eight surrounding counties.

Our weather and landscape unfolds with beautiful surprises during each season. Springs brings soft rains with breathtaking redbud and dogwood foliage. The summers are warm, but the cool waters of the lake and river are always close by. The area is rich with beautiful Crepe Myrtles, blooming in red, pink and white through June, July and August. Fall is pleasant with temperatures in the 70’s during the day and brisk evenings. The area is known for its gorgeous fall foliage and finds many day trippers on driving tours through the Ozark Hills during September and October to see the spectacular fall color. During winter, expect at least one snowfall to turn the pristine landscape into a winter wonderland.

History Of Lakeview, Arkansas

The catalyst for development of Lakeview and our neighboring town, Bull Shoals, was construction of the Bull Shoals Dam, completed in 1951 by the U.S. Government to control frequent flooding on the White River and to provide hydroelectric power.The two towns sprang up on either side of the gorge where the great span was to be built, to house the workers who would toil for years on the massive project.
